How This Directory Is Built
This page explains exactly where our listings and prices come from. If a comparison site will not tell you that, it is fair to wonder what it is showing you.
How dealers get listed
Every dealer in this directory was verified against a live business listing or the dealer's own website at the time it was added. A listing records the business name, town, and website where one exists, plus a phone number or, for dealers who publish an email instead, that address. Listings are free. No dealer pays to be listed, and no dealer pays for placement or ranking. Dealers with a price sort first because a price is more useful to you, not because anyone paid for the spot.
Where prices come from
A price appears on this site only when it comes from the dealer: published on their own website, published on an official listing, or sent to us directly by the business itself. Every price shows the date we recorded it, links to the source that verifies the business, and says in the listing when the figure came to us by email rather than from a public page. We never estimate prices, never fill gaps with regional averages presented as quotes, and never invent a number a dealer did not give us.
A price sent to us directly is the dealer's own quote, which is the best possible source for it, but it is not something you can go and check for yourself the way a price on a dealer's website is. We label those listings so you can weigh them accordingly. Note also that some dealers quote a price with delivery included and others quote the wood plus a delivery fee; each listing says which, so read the note before comparing two numbers directly.
That standard means most listings read "call for pricing", because most dealers do not give one out up front. Right now 46 of the 165 dealers we list have a full-cord price, ranging from $240 to $1200. We would rather show you an honest "call for pricing" than a made-up figure.

- Vermont: 26 dealers listed, 7 with a price ($250 to $450 per cord)
- Massachusetts: 40 dealers listed, 16 with a price ($295 to $650 per cord)
How often listings are refreshed
A price stays on the site only while it is recent. We recheck each one against the dealer's own page every month, and a price we have not confirmed in the last 45 days is taken down automatically and the listing goes back to "call for pricing". A price the dealer's page labels as an earlier season is never shown. Every price carries the date we last confirmed it. Every listing in the directory has been verified since July 2026, and many more recently than that; each listing shows its own date. Firewood prices move with season and supply, so always confirm the current price with the dealer before ordering.
Quote requests
When you request quotes, your request is stored securely so dealers serving your area can respond by email or phone. We never sell your information. For abuse prevention we store a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself.
Claim or correct a listing
If you own or run one of the businesses listed here and want to update your price, contact details, or service area, or want your listing removed, email listings@firewoodprices.com with your business name and town. Corrections from the dealer take priority over anything we collected from public sources.
What we never do
- No fabricated dealers, prices, reviews, or testimonials.
- No estimated prices presented as real quotes.
- No paid placement or paid ranking.
- No claims of dealer partnerships that do not exist.
- No selling of your contact information.
